HEY, I'M MANJA FÜRST
In the beginning, I knew nothing about sculpture. As a child I loved to draw, but until recently I expressed myself only in 2D shapes.
I didn't talk much. Whenever I was angry, sad or incredibly happy, I'd take paper or canvas and transfer my feelings onto it. Sometimes with words, sometimes with clear drawings and paintings.
But just as everything becomes more complicated as I grow up, more and more complex compositions began to emerge under my hands. Compositions that were no longer so clearly recognisable.
I try to express myself in the most diverse materials, which I explore with enthusiasm in my works.
The contact with clay and later with glass opened new horizons for me. Now I can definitely say that I'm fascinated by the mysteries, diversity and possibilities they offer.
In contact with the material I enjoy and discover new worlds. My own worlds. In them, everything is allowed. Everything I imagine and desire. There I can do whatever I want. New dimensions always open up to me, which I love to explore endlessly and in which I find my own way. I deal with my thoughts, feelings, observing and perceiving myself and others. With memories, relationships and inner struggles, with all good and bad experiences.
Often I turn to nature. She calms me, and I get ideas from her. Water inspires me the most. Both its peaceful waves and its terrible destructive power. I feel devotion and humility. During walks in nature I relax, let myself drift, escape from this world. My imagination opens without end. I search for shapes, connect patterns, observe and think. Here I find my peace and inspiration. Here I'm at home.
